[tri-wings] Re: Prenatal Diagnosis

Yes I do think they need education. We aren't seeing pregnant women until
well into their 2nd trimester so it needs to go to the GP's out there or
maybe it could start in schools in PDHPE. Some women particularly those
older ones who have followed a career first tend to be more educated I think
because they approach having a baby like they did their career and educate
themselves. I was working with a woman and her husband just yesterday, she
rang to say that she was in labour and when I got her file out, found she
had had a T18 pregnancy which was terminated at 12 weeks (not making
judgements just stating facts) when I shared with her about Louise she was
just amazed. She had opted for NT scanning with this pregnancy and had
refused amnio (frightened of losing another baby). Not sure how the T18 was
picked up come to think of it but she was in her mid thirties and was
blaming herself for the anomaly.... so I shared how young some of the mums
here are I hope I made her feel a bit better.
