Mom has been told that she will be in the South Dakota Heart Hospital
for 10 days minimum. Then, she will be transferred to a nursing home
or a swing bed in the local hospital. We aren't sure how long she
will have to stay there, but if I remember correctly, it is at least
two weeks. She won't mind the swing bed, but almost refuses the
nursing home alternative.
She is making arrangements for her car and her license plate, and
lots of other little things. I guess that is good. One less thing
for me to worry about. Today, we are going to the cemetery to bring
flowers to my dad's grave and to my grandparents' graves. Got to get
that done, you know!! (I have a weird view of cemeteries, I guess.
For many years - 20 or so - my husband was the caretaker of his
church cemetery where his parents are buried. We spent many
Saturdays out there at noon having picnics with him while he took a
break from work. My kids are pretty comfortable in cemeteries.) I
want to go to Hope's grave, but I know I won't get there. I sent
flowers with Cheryl to take out there.
So, today, I'm off to do lots of errands. I hope I get all of them
done. And I'm hoping they will keep my mind off of my mom's surgery.
Thanks, LuAnn, for your comments, too. I had to go to the Wings site
to read any responses. I don't get my digest until in the wee hours
of the morning. And I knew I couldn't wait that long to hear from you.
Thanks, Bernita, for your support. It will be a long trek.
