This is really funny. I just have to tell my story about the word
"plethora."
On the 4th of July we usually go to my son's because they have a big
celebration in town. Of course, this year it rained on the 5th when they
actually had it, but..... We were watching the parade. My son's mil was
telling a story about something at work and just stopped in the middle of
her story to ask Cadence what there was a plethora of at the parade. (MIL
was just ready to use that word in her story and apparently had taught it to
Cadence earlier in the week.) Cadence replied - after looking around -
that there was a plethora of wet people. We all just sat in amazement. I
looked at her and said, "You know, Cadence, there are a lot of 5th graders
that don't know that word!" I thought I was giving her lots of support and
encouragement - the teacher in me. My son turned to me and said, "You know,
Mom, there are a lot of adults that don't know that word." At which, my
husband whispered to me, "What does it mean? I've never heard it before."
After the parade, back at their home, I had to try it out again. I asked
Cadence what she had a plethora of at her house. She looked at me with no
surprise or any unusual look and said, "I have a plethora of toys." Which
she does, of course. All of this from a 3 year old!!! It was just so funny
to hear such a big word out of this little girl. And now, I'm hearing it on
a regular basis. It must be in vogue to say right now. Do you like that
word? Vogue? Just trying to throw in another one.
