Dear Stacy,
I hardly ever write to the list, although I'm a devoted lurker, but your
post really hit home. Every night I say a special prayer for all of our
angels, Leslie Serina included. I know how much it means to have our
children remembered. To me it is saying "Yes, I am glad (child's name) was
a part of my life and they have left a lasting impression on my heart."
Sometimes I think people are afraid to mention our children to us for fear
that they are bringing up sad memories. It would be wonderful if those in
our lives could realize that it is the memories, both sad and happy, that
mean so much to us. I would much rather have some mention Rachael to me
than ignore her just to spare my feelings. It is those feelings that
remind me just how very much I loved her. I tend to bring Rachael up in
conversations and talk about her so that others might feel more comfortable
speaking about her to me. I am so sorry that your family and friends didn't
acknowledge Leslie on her birthday/angel day. Just know that your friends
here on the list were thinking of both you and her. I wish you peace.
Love,
Terri mom to Jack, Rachael(T-13 4/29/82-12/22/98), Dennis, and Kevin
