Nancy
We shouldn't have to shout! We are parents, we are responsible for love, care,
upbringing, development, stability, consistency. Medical care is just not in
our remit.
The truth is that medics ultimately have the power in this one and it is they
who bear the responsibility for not listening to parents who know their
children better than they know themselves. The system bears the responsibility
for the policies that discriminate against our kids and the holding back of
valuable tests or care because of money.
It probably would be that no matter how loud you shouted they would not have
run those tests or speeded up the treatment, you would just have had a sore
throat into the bargain. Its hard for us to accept we can't control every
aspect of our kids lives, every experience of bullying at school, poor
treatment from services, long waiting lists for vital equipment, people staring
in the street. But we can't. What we can do, and DO do, very very well is be
parents. We take responsibility for the things we can do and do them in
abundance and with love.
Love and hugsDemi I buried two children > because I didn't yell loud enough,
or catch the signs of their urinary tract > infections soon enough.
