Hi everyone,
I alluded to this in the last message, but I didn't think it was fair to
Penny to put all of this in a message to her- and I was just being funny to
begin with.
My daughter and granddaughter came to visit on Friday night. Ali cried a
lot of the way from Des Moines to Tracy. She didn't want to be in that car
seat any more. And apparently, even at eight months, she can ask, "How muc=
h
longer, Mommy?" But then, my husband's brother came to go fishing for the
fishing opener. He was here Friday night, too. Saturday morning was about
35=BA F and drizzly and very windy. It was like that last year and both guys
came back almost frozen like a popsicle. So this year they decided not to
go out. They could just play with Alison. Well everyone took a morning
nap, just like Alison. (No one was feeling that great so they shouldn't
have been fishing anyway.) At noon, we had hamburgers on the grill - made
grandpa cook. Then Cheryl and I went shopping and left Grandpa in charge o=
f
babysitting. Of course, Ali didn't get a nap. By 3:00, my son, d-i-l, and
two grandkids were parked in front of us on the main street of Tracy. Wade
called our cell phones to find out which store we were in and if we were
going home. We promised that we only had one more stop and then would be
home. By the time we got there, everyone was in the house and stuff was
"unpacked"; coats were put away, and there were presents for grandma and
great grandma (who had come while we were downtown.) [We celebrated
Mother's Day a week late.]
What a busy afternoon! Very fun. But we girls had to get ready for the
mother-daughter banquet and leave the guys to fend for themselves. Great
grandma had bought wrist corsages for the two little girls and me, so Chery=
l
and I had to stop at the floral shop to get more corsages (for GGM and the =
2
young moms). When we got home, the guys had eaten, and the table was
cleared with the dishes done. What a great surprise!
At about 8:30, my mom went home very tired. And Wade, Charity and the kids
also went home by 9:00. I didn't get to see my son or grandson much at all=
.
It was a good day, though. Cadence brought in my flower, a plant with
orange blossoms. I remembered that last year they promised to get me the
right color this year. I'm guessing that Cadence is the one who remembered
that Grandma likes orange and yellow flowers. And Cheryl also brought me a
straw bag with some orange woven in. Orange and yellow were the colors fo=
r
the day. =20
I'm sorry that this is so long, but I just wanted to share a very fun day
with all of you. The best part, of course, was getting to see the
grandkids, but I also got a picture from Cheryl of Alison on her knees in
front of Cheryl's Hope angel sitting on the floor. It looks just like she
is talking to it and maybe to her sister. Of all of the cute pictures,
this one brought tears of joy as I remembered (even though I had been fully
conscious of) Hope all weekend. She was with us every step of the day.
Since my alarm just went off, I'd better get ready for school. Again, have
a great week.
