Deanna, It sounds like you all had a very fun and relaxing trip. I peeked at the pictures, what a beautiful place. It is much less commercialized than other areas like Cancun, and alot more laid back. (Unless you're 19 and want the party scene!) We got to the resort around 3pm on Valentines day. Met with our travel representative (my new Mexican boyfriend - can you say free drinks) and I asked if we could arrange to have my brother and sister-in-law renew their vows sometime that week. That day was their 10th anniversary. He said he would think about it and let me know. By 7pm we had reservations at a restaurant on the beach (keep in mind, this was Valentines day) the table was literally on the beach - and a judge was their at sunset to perform the ceremony, they even had flowers set up and live music - three guys that played ukelalies(sp) and sang in spanish. Doug and Donna were so surprised. It was beautiful, except he married Doug and Julia, instead of Doug and Donna!! We had a great laugh > over that. Now my brother says that if she wants to divorce him she will have to do it in two countries instead of just one. > >Most of the week was spent in the resort pool - the swim up bar of course. We also spent alot of time in the "markets" - bartering with the vendors, what fun. Major swindling over 25 cents. One day we went deep sea fishing (Mike needed more than just sex-sometimes he can be so difficult) And you thought the gooey stuff was going to be something else. We chartered a boat that took us out for a few hours and then dropped us off on an island that cooked our fish for lunch. It was delicious. The Pina Colodas served in pineapples were a big hit. > >Our dear friend Pete sent me some of Abi's angel pennies the week before we left so that I could find a wishing well and have the same luck that they had. I had found a church not far from where we were (45 minutes) that was known for people coming from all of the country to pray for miracles. I had decided before I received the pennies that we would go there and try to pray for all the families affected by Trisomy as well as our own selfish request. After receiving the pennies I decided that was the perfect place to make my wish. Guess we'll have to wait and see how powerful this is. We hired a taxi by the hour and he took us there as well as giving us a country side tour. What an emotional day. The church of course was beautiful, and very moving. You could just see the devotion on the people's faces - I have never felt so close to God in my life - and I really felt like he had Jessica in his arms. > >The country tour really left you in awe. Animals running wildly across the dirt roads - even saw a pig with a leash on it. The houses were nothing more than a wood or straw shack having no windows, many without roofs and dirt floors. Their beds consisted of hammocks hanging in doorways or windows to get air. We saw how tiles for the nicer houses and hotels were made. They are made out of clay by hand, formed on a mold and dried in the sun. No machinery, and one elderly man said he made 300 a day. It really makes you appreciate what we have. > >The rest of the time was spent eating, drinking and the other gooey stuff! Oh yes, almost forgot to tell about my exerience of walking on water! - Don't believe them, it can't be done - even after the pool bar! > > > I posted some pictures at http://home.att.net/~warpehoski/Mexico2003.html if you want to peek. > >The trip was definately what the doctor ordered!!! > >lotsoflove >Deanna~~~...~ >wife to Mike, mom to Nicole 14, Jake 10, and Jessica 5/4/02 (our precious angel -t18) >Coal Valley, IL USA >Meet Jessica @ http://home.att.net/~warpehoski > > Building ___ooOOoo__ Rainbows > www.trisomyonline.org > Families Helping Families On-line > Building ___ooOOoo__ Rainbows www.trisomyonline.org Families Helping Families On-line
