There is no such thing as "just a grandpa".I know I've lectured our list 
grandmas before on the same thing and now its your turn !!! :-)
Yes we as parents to  angels feel a devastating loss and watch our dreams 
fade into dust but hey you as grandparents have double pain...you lost a 
grandchild AND have to watch your own child in so much pain.A pain that you 
want to take from them and can't.I know that if any of my children are 
hurting,I want to hurt instead of them and that's normally for something 
like a friend walked out on them or teacher yelled because they talked in 
class.How much greater ,my friend,is your desire to take the pain your child 
feels when their world just fell apart?

Grandparents are special...your presence on this list is more than welcome 
(as with Aunts, Uncles etc too).I have learned so much from people like 
yourself,Paul.Seeing how your child's pain affects you helps me to see how 
my pain affects my parents.
