Hi Missy,
You live about two hours from me. I am in Seekonk a small town outside of
Boston. What a small world. I believe the information you are looking for
may be available on the trisomy site that wings is a part of. I believe it
is trisomy.org. If you check with Mandy she may be able to provide you with
the link. I have some information that Karen had sent to the group a while
back. If you like, I can forward it to you. It has some data about
translocations that you might find helpful. Look forward to hearing more
from you.
Joyce, mom to Zachary 11/15/00-11/20/00, Matthew 04/24/02, wife to Alan

Subject: [tri-wings] Introductions
I feel like I should introduce myself and tell you all a little bit about
myself. First thank you so much for the support I have recieved already from
everyone. My name is Missy. I am 25 years old. I live in Plymouth
Massachussetts. I am a 4th grade teacher in Duxbury a town near Plymouth. My
husband John is 27. He is a corrections officer/Deputy for the Sheriff's
Department. Nicole was my first pregnancy/baby. I had MANY ultrasounds 13 to
be exact with no conclusive findings. All though after I found out what
Nicole had it seemed conclusive to me! I had an AFP and everything was
normal. After testing our chromosomes they found out that John was a
"carrier". We went to genetic counseling and they told us that it was very
rare that I got pregnant and carried to term. They then told us that there
is a 7% chance that this will happen again. Even though on paper it looked
like 50% to me. They assured us that in studies of families they only see a
7% reaccurence rate. This is so
scary to us! I never want to see another baby have to go through what
Nicole went through and for the most part she was pretty healthy!
I guess my question is does anyone know of any sites that may give
statistics on Translocations. I feel like I need to be prepared for the
future even if it may not be what I want.
Thanks so much.
Missy
