Jackie,
Yes, I can tell you how to do this, but am going to suggest a compromise
as well. If it's a matter of the amount of mail as opposed to content,
then you also have the option to remain subbed but either go on the daily
digest or turn off your mail delivery completely and read at archive website
only. This way you wouldn't be inundated by mails, but could still post
to the list if you ever wanted to.
Okay, so here's what you're going to do:
Go to this site: http://www.freelists.org/login.html
And ignore what John says about being only for list owners
& administrators...I use this link all the time, and I have
NO administrative privileges around there!!!
If you bother to try clicking on his "list members click here",
it will take you to a dead end as far as managing your own account.
So put in the e-mail addy that you are subbed to the list through,
and no password as this is your first time using this link. He'll
send the authorization code you need to put in the password box
(by e-mail to the listed addy).
Once you have and use it, you should be taken to a page that says
"Main Menu" & "User: (your e-mail addy)". This page will let you
set your own password for future use so that you can get back in at
will to change e-mail delivery settings, including vacation holds
If you so desire this option. Otherwise just progress on to the
next step.
Next notice the box where it says "select lists". Scan down the list
and select tri-wings and click select. Click on "unsubscribe me".
Goodbye!
And here's the link for the archives in case you chose the read there
only option:
