No, you're not a loser.  This totally isn't your fault.  I'm glad for you
that it turned out as it did.  Now at least it can be repaired.
And of course there is still hope for your wedding ring.  Maybe if they
aren't found, a great Christmas gift to yourselves would be new sets?!   My
husband has told me that if I ever lose mine it makes the marriage null and
void!LOL!
