I know of a girl who lived to the age of 21 with full Trisomy 18.
You're right, even though the prognosis is poor in general for children
diagnosed with T-18, that shouldn't label every baby with T-18 as
'incompatible with life'. Even babies born with a poor prognosis have a
chance if doctors got out of the rut in their beliefs that our babies
lives are not worth saving because their quality of life is
compromised. They forget that a simple cuddle and a belly full of warm
milk is all any baby ever wants, regardless of the physical problems
they face.
