Leslie always gets remembered during the holidays by me and by my best
friend. My family on the other hand doesn't. Well, actually my Mom gets an
ornament for Leslie every year but that is it. We are supposed to be having
a famly picture done this year of my parents, my sister and her husband and
2 kids and Thom and I. I wanted to have Elizabeth, my niece, hold either a
picture of Leslie or a stuffed animal that had been for Leslie but no on e
else thought that was a good idea. My thought is, if it is a family picture,
then I want to have something in it of Leslie. I mean, if she were here, she
would be involved...
Most of the time, I get the "you shoyuld be over this by now" especially
from Thom and his side of the family. Granted, they are of no relation to
Leslie (she was born during my first marriage) For example...
I did a scrapbook for my Grandparents for Easter last year. I did a page for
each of the 18 grandkids and 16 great grandkids. I took the book over to
show my MIL and she made cute comments about every page in the book. then
she got to Leslie's page, looked at it and said isn't this your baby? I said
yes and she just flipped the page like it wasn't important. My feeling were
hurt.
I get comments from her all the time about "when I'm a Mom"...I don't want
to be disrespectful towards her, but I am a Mom.
Sorry for the vent but it has been a really long week.
As for the holidays, I do remember my angel, and I try to help other people
remember her as well..
My sister is having my nephew baptized on November 20, which is Leslie's
birthday. I have told my Mom in no uncertain terms that if I am expected to
go, then I want to do something for Leslie's birthday. Some folks on the
list recommended a balloon release after the baptisim. I think that is the
plan. I want to release 9 pink balloons for Leslies' 9th birthday and I want
to release a blue one for my sister's father in law who died a couple months
ago in a tractor accident.
Thanks for listening...
