>>>Thank you for sharing Ashley's story with us. I am so sorry
she had to leave you so soon but I am so glad you could spend time with her
and make those memories. We got to do the same with Michelle and at first,
the bad memories(hospital stays, sicknesses, etc.) were hard to deal with.
But now those are fading and I am left with all the happy memories so
everything is kind of bittersweet.
Where is Opelika, AL? My mother in law lives just north of Huntsville in
Athen and we visit her every once in a while. She wants us to come down to
Gulf Shores for a vacation and we will but it is such a long drive.<<<

Hi Ann
Good to hear from you. Yes, it is hard to remember her in any pain. Ashley
did rather well most of the time and was so happy, but she had a spell about
a day and a half before she passed that left her uncomfortable. Any time I
could slip away to another room and leave her with her Daddy for a few
moments I would cry and pray to God to take away her suffering. I didn't
realize that he would answer my prayer by bringing her home. Luckily the
happy memories are numerous and I try to concentrate on those. It is good
to know that the hard times will fade with time. I don't think any Mother
can bear the thought of their child suffering. It has got to be the worst
pain imaginable.
I would love to hear more about Michelle. Every story I hear about our
precious angels is inspiring.
Opelika is part of Auburn, Alabama which is a college town-Auburn University
(my Alma Mater). We are about 45 minutes North of Montgomery and 2 hours
South of Birmingham. I have several friends who are from Huntsville which
is about 4 hours from here. It is a beautiful area filled with rolling
hills. Funny you should mention Gulf Shores. My husband is from Bay
Minette which is only 30 minutes from Gulf Shores. We spent several days
there (the Gulf) after Ashley passed. I was so good to get away and be
alone with our thoughts. It is really a beautiful place...you should go!
If you do ever happen to travel through our lovely state, let me know.
Maybe we can get together.
Luv,
