[tri-wings] Hardy family update

Michelle W I did see your post asking for an update before we went on
holiday, I just didn't have time to answer it.

So here goes

Glenn spent most of last year laid off( I kept telling him he was lucky his
wife worked) and is thankfully back at work, he works for GM in Oshawa and
had been in the truck plant since he started in 84, it was a hard blow when
they announced they were closing it down. He is now in the stamping plant
and loving it! They are even starting with the overtime on Saturday's again
which will be a plus for us since he was off most of last year. I am still
working, usually more then I want to, but that's the money trap :0) Mark
is doing fairly well at school....he would be doing great if he would just
hand in all assignments! His biggest problem at school seems to be the low
maturity level of the other kids, as probably most of you notice our
typical children tend to be more mature related to having their trier
siblings, they also have greater empathy. Anyway he does go to resource a
lot, more to get away from classes that are too noisy for him to
concentrate. Since he has been back in regular high school ( he spent a
year at a residential school for kids with learning disabilities) he has
passed each credit in the applied stream with little apparent effort. ( we
have the essential stream, which is no diploma go out and work. The applied
stream which is college geared and the academic stream which is for those
planning on university ) . socially he is a gamer, spending too much time on
the computer and his new Xbox. But then there are worse things he could be
doing I guess. After Rebecca died I found we really turned inward and
spent way to much time basically doing nothing. This year I decided I was
going to get out there and so far I have attended my monthly drop in at
Bereaved families and as my schedule has permitted a monthly scrapbooking
scrap! And we are undertaking a powder room remodel! ( hopefully we will
keep at it) I mostly lurk on the lists and think of everyone. and do
mass deletes. I do have a most interesting ( to me anyway) story. Since
Rebecca died we have taken up travel ( makes me feel guilty cause I couldn't
do it before she died) anyway we love this one particular resort chain (
Grand Palladium) and I don't care which one we go to but Glenn loves Punta
Cana, me I would choose on price. Anyway Glenn really wanted to go to Punta
Cana in July but the price was not the lowest ( Mexico, then Jamaica were)
anyway one night when I was at work and Glenn was surfing the net he asked
his angel to help him. Glenn then came up with the idea of checking other
airports ( we use Toronto) and found that he could get the same package for
450.00 $ less each if we used Montreal. On our flight there was 3 ( that I
saw) disabled children ( they appeared to be severely disabled like many of
our triers and my Rebecca) it must have been a wish flight......one day at
the buffet the next table over there was a family with a young son who
appeared to have down's syndrome ........on our return home we were at the
drug store restocking and in front of us was a woman and her daughter, the
daughter reminded me so much of Philina.....she was happy and laughing and
the mother said she was having a great day! All those "things" together
can't be by chance, I believe Rebecca had her hand in it. We miss her
daily. Today when I had decided that I was going to write this update Glenn
got the mail and there was a card from Rebecca's last teacher......in it was
Rebecca's student card.......the teacher had found it in her desk and
thought we would want it.
