Hi Everyone,
First of all congratulations Mandy I am really pleased for you.
Demi I read your story in Soft and my heart goes out to you (Nicholas' story
should be in the next edition with a couple of piccies).
Well - I have had a seven page horrible letter back from Colchester Hospital
telling me there was no way T18 could have been detected during my pregnancy
as Nicholas had no signs!!!!! They have also refused me any further testing
if I decide to try for another baby, they won't allow CVS or amnio as I am
only 32 and not over 36 (some logic somewhere no doubt!). Peter and I now
have to pay £400.00 to see Professor Nicholaides in London if we want any
further testing done.
The only thing I have been offered so far is a genetics test some time in
the next few months. A couple of questions for everybody if you don't mind.
Firstly, I was told Nicholas had full Trisomy 18 and that you can't be a
carrier as it was a sheer "fluke" (in heir words, not mine. The hospital
letter also refered to my gorgeous little boy as "an abnormal baby" all the
way through the letter).
Secondly, How do they do this test and how long does it take for the results
to come back?
I would be grateful for any answers.
Love and best wishes to everyone.
