Jill,
You might want to join Tri-Wings where almost all of the members are
people who have lost their child, grandchild, niece or nephew. My
daughter stayed home for 2 of the 3 months that she had planned, but
the longer she stayed home, the worse she felt. I commend you for
going back to work. I hope everyone is gentle with you.
Re: Update from Jill Monday morning, Jan. 26th.
Thank you. I just returned to work today after being off only 3
weeks. I couldn't stand another day at home - my kids are in school
and the days get long. The nights are worse.
Her birth was beautiful and sad. Her dad, my kids and I got to hold
her for as long as we wanted. We took many pictures. My 8-year old
daughter helped the nurse bathe Alice and we dressed her. We got
plaster prints of her little feet. Her hair was almost 2 inches long
and I got locks of her hair. My 17-year old son made the most
beautiful slide show with the pictures (he works for a photographer)
and he did a perfect job. Its hard to watch, but when the pain is
not as breathtaking, I'll watch it again.
We had a memorial service for her at my church and in the spring we
will bury her next to my dad (he died in October 2008). The week
before he died, he took care of a cemetery plot for Alice, just in
case. He didn't want me to have to worry about that part.
Anyway, as soon as I can figure out how to upload the dvd slide show,
I'll direct you all to a site so I can share that with you.
Thinking about all your babies welcoming her home is a comforting
thought. I know Alice is fine now, its just hard to be left behind...
