I agree with you and would be equally upset. The bottom line is that all of 
these precious babies are unique. To slap a label of futility on all of them 
reflects ignorance of the condition and is discriminatory. 

There was a publication out last year about tris 18 in Paedatrics. (a major med 
journal) The authors stated that women must be counseled on the fact that the 
condition is incompatible with life when there is a prenatal diagnosis. 
Furthermore, they stated that it was unethical to resuscitate a  newborn with 
Tri18 and a previously diagnosed cardiac defect when the baby is born. 

Dr. Carey was not please and he submitted a comment that was published.
