I do know it can hurt for grandparents as much as parents. I'm to the point
now where I can read a pretty poem or do special things for Brandon without
the tears(sometimes) and even with a smile, but my mom is a different story.
I've tried to share different things with her like poems and she cries
instantly. I can tell it just breaks her heart. I guess we just deal with
our emotions very differently. Sometimes it makes it hard to talk about
Brandon with her, because I feel there must be something wrong with me that
she cries so easy and I'm OK. Sometimes I'd just like to be able to bring
up his name without the tears. But I know that's just the difference
between us and how we grieve. I'm sure my mom feels like I must bottle
things up too sometimes. Maybe I do, but I think I'm just at peace with
everything(most of the time) and she's had a harder time accepting it.
Anyway, I'm just trying to say that I understand how difficult it can be for
grandmas and I hope you and your daughter can get past your this and be able
to share things again. I agree with Mandy, don't let anything stop you from
going to the cemetery or doing special things for Hope. It's your right.
My mom is actually better than I am at keeping plants watered and keeping
things looking nice at the cemetery and I appreciate because I don't always
have as much time. We're lucky we both live nearby the cemetery so we're
able to do that. Don't worry about spoiling your grandkids - it's your
right as Grandma! I figure some kids aren't lucky enough to have a grandma
in their life so spoil away. I'll be thinking about you all as you get
through this difficult time.
