[tri-wings] Dina

hello Dina.I am so sorry you two are having to go through this.my name is
leanne,i don't post much but i read all the e mails from this group.my hubby
and i have two daughters wioth no pregnancy problems so we decided to try
for a third.well we never thought we would have any trouble along the
way,boy we were wrong,we had a miscariage with the first try at about 6
weeks,so we tried again,we were 18 weeks along and found out our baby had
died between 8&10 weeks,so we took a short break.when we decided to try
again we were scared but we got pregnant again, and made it through the first
trimester with no problems.we thought we hit the jackpot this time, then it
was time for my 19 week u.s.this all happened about 4 years ago.i can still
remember laying on the table tinking we are finally going to get our
baby, there was a good heartbeat,my tummy was getting bigger by the week, well
what a shock it was to find out our baby had cysts on the brain.so the next
step was to go to vancouver,i live in canada 9on vancouver island and that
is the closest hospital that has a level 2 u.s.so off we go,what a trip that
was,it was in dec.when we had to go so the weather was not good and the boat
was rocking pretty good but i didn,t care i just wanted to get the u.s over
with.finally got to the hospital and had the u.s done.than had a meeting
with the doctors and found out that our baby was very sick and woud not
live.so with incredible sadnes and disappointment we decided to terminate
our beloved pregnancy.so on dec.7th we went back to vancouver and on dec.8th
we went to the doctors office to get started with the dialation process.i
never really thought that the doctor was going to be an o.b so when i walked
into the office and there was a lot of pregnant women in the room i was very
surprised,i didn't really know what to do with myself here i was the only
women in amongst 10 preggos and i was terminating my babe.finally i got
called into his office and he explained what was going to happen, well i only
heard half of what he said, than into another room and on with the
procedure, the laminarea sticks did hurt reall babd going in,but it had to be
done, than i had to come back again the next day for the same thing.i thought
boy will this ever end.than on dec 10th 1998 we had the termination.and we
were on our way home.i kept seeing pregnant women and i thought they sure
don't know how lucky they are.my hubby had a blood test done to find out if
he had something wrong with him but it came back just fine, finally we found
out 5 months later that we had a baby boy and he died of trisomy 18.well we
did not know what that was,i didn't get my computer untill 2 years after so
we were very confused.as soon as we got our comp. we found this group and we
finally understood trisomy 18.it was the hardestc decision that we have ever
made but for us it was the best.it has been a very hard road but i pregnant
again and we are due nov 12th.just remember what ever you decide we are all
here for you.. well dina that is my story,we are still struggling with it
every day but it does get easier.just give yourselves time to grieve and be
kind to yourself......leanne
