It's Carers Week here in Australia (which seems to have lost a lot of momentum
due to the election hype). Carers Week is supposed to be a designated week
where the entire nation remembers, and is reminded of the work that Carers do
in the community.
I am feeling lousy today but I got a lift when I picked up a postcard from
Helen at our local Neighbourhood Centre. It simply says thank you for caring
enough to be a Carer.
How often does anyone take the time to say thank you? How many people truly
understand what its like to be a Carer? Especially when you know that they mean
it.
So, today, right now, if you know anyone who is caring for someone, pick up a
pen and drop them a note that says "Thank You for Caring" - for me, for all of
us......
Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well.
