Maryanne -

I, too, have an older son (19) who has never been tested as a carrier - and I
DO have two younger (15 & 8) who ARE carriers (tested before birth). However,
in order for your children to be carriers, one of YOU - either your husband, or
yourself, has to be a carrier. Genetic counseling on you and your husband
should rule out completely whether it is a genetic condition in your family, or
if it was just a "fluke" that Nadia was afflicted with Trisomy.

I AM a carrier, therefore my children's chances of being carriers would be very
great (as I stated, two of them are).
However, if you or your husband were neither one carriers, there would be no
more chance for your son to be a carrier than any other "normal" person - it
also would alleviate any explanations along those lines to your son than you
care to make (personal preference).

Just an FYI - stay in touch and let us know what you decide to do. And
whatever your choice or outcome, I can help if you need to talk...
