Jean,
I felt the same way when my daughter had her second child. She lost
Hope to Trisomy 18 in 2001. When she had Alison in 2004, she (and
all of us) felt so blest. But we also still wondered "what if". I
think that is always the question in the back of our minds. The
question hasn't changed in six years. We feel that we have lost the
possibility of getting to know Hope, knowing her personality, etc.
And we always talk about Hope, her big sister, and give her a
birthday party, too. Alison will know that Hope is her big sister.
She just will not know how wonderful she would have been as a big
sister!
I'm so sorry for your loss of Arily Faith. What a beautiful name!
But I'm glad, too, that Conor does have a big sister to watch over
him. What a gift Arily is!
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Sheila Helleson
