Cheryl got her braces when she was in 8th grade and off as a junior
as I recall. Her ortho put on retainers almost immediately. Before
her wedding, she went back for her "final" check-up with this ortho
and to get the retainers removed (the bottom one was permanently
affixed.) But her ortho asked if it bothered her because he would
rather have her keep it in place. She is 36 and still has the
retainer. (I almost think that she still has the top one also.) Her
biggest problem now is losing her enamel. She has had to have her
teeth re-enameled within the last year. She was told it was due to
her pregnancy with Hope.
