Tell me - I almost died as the result of retained products after Virginia
was born. Apart from the infection I was so aneamic from the blood loss that
they could not get an IV line in for the transfusion. In the end they did
but I dont remember it because I ended up unconscious long before that
point.

And it took me a long time to recover afterwards, months really. It really
knocked me around.

What made my day was when my ob (idiot) who tried to tell me (when he
finally got back from overseas) that it wasn't a big deal because the amount
of product retained was no bigger than his thumb.
Thats BIG for retained products and he had ignored me for weeks following
the birth when I said something wasnt right and I was bleeding too much. He
did give me antibiotics, but they need to get the retained products out as
well.

Also my grandmother died in 1927 from retained products (and complicating
pneumonia from her weakened state). Because she and my grandfather were
devout catholics they would not allow a D & C. Ahhh how times have changed.

I have not lost my mind - it's backed up on disk somewhere.
