[tri-wings] An Angel Tink

Hi all,

I just had to let you know about the most wonderful "tink" I received today.
It was my last day of the season on my ice cream cart, and I pulled into the
gas station to fill up. While pumping gas, I heard this crying from this van
next to me. Soon this gentleman comes up to me and asks if I would sell some
ice cream to his girls. I guess he thought that maybe I wouldn't want to be
bothered because I was at the station - but of course I said that I would be
happy to. He went over to his van and opened the door and out come this little
girl with tears streaming down her face and her older sister. I looked at the
2 of them and my heart went still! The older girl(she was about 12), looked
just like my Rachael!!! The little one picked out her ice cream and went right
back to the van to show her mom. The older one took her time, looking at every
single picture and settling on the one with the most sprinkles. Rachael
would've down the same thing. She took the money from her father and gave it
to me with the biggest smile and immediately chomped into her ice cream (also
just like Rachael). As she was walking back to the van, I debated on asking
her father about her - I didn't want to intrude but I just had to know! So I
told the dad, Ken, that she looked so much like my daughter . He asked me
"Does your daughter have trisomy 13?" I told him yes, but that she had passed
away 2 1/2 years ago from congestive heart failure. He gave me a big hug and
said I was the first person he had met who had a child with trisomy 13 and he
was so excited. It turns out, his family was up in our area from Boise
attending a family reunion and they were on their way home. They were going to
wait to stop for gas but his wife needed to use the restroom so they pulled in.
Amazing!!!! We talked for quite awhile about "our girls". It was so
wonderful to talk to someone in person! We gave each other our e mail
addresses so I hope to hear from him again. Needless to say, I have been on
such a "high" all day!! I had been missing Rachael pretty badly today - she
loved the "ice cream man" and doing my route every summer makes me feel closer
to her and I knew it was my last day. She must have known too and sent me this
very special "tink" to remind me that she is always with me - ice cream or not!
It still send shivers through me thinking about it. What a wonderful way to
conclude my season! Just had to share this with all of you because I knew you
would understand how exciting it was.

Love,
Terri mom to Jack, Rachael(T-13 4/29/82-12/22/98), Dennis, and Kevin
