[tri-wings] A little bit of good news . . .

WELL

My little Matthew has been comin on leaps and bounds since I went on maternity
when Ryan arrived. (Slap in the face for me who was adamant he was coping with
the workin mom thing). But anyway, now he's got 1-2-1 support at preschool and
a great Speech Therapist, he's been doing really great. I've seen a huge
improvement in him and so has everyone else.

SO he had his big developmental assessment yesterday. He has these every six
months or so to monitor his development. When he first came to me at 21 months
he was between 9-15 months DELAYED in different areas. He's been gradually
improving since they finally medicated his reflux, which stopped his fits and
enabled him to concentrate better. So on Friday, he aced his assessment and
for the first time was within the realms of "normal" for his age!!! He's come
such a long way in such a short time, bless his heart. He still has a lot of
difficulties in specific areas like communication, social skills, sensory
integration, hyperactivity, poor concentration, aggression and emotional
problems. But this is a world away from being delayed in every area. We've
worked so hard with him, learning to walk, swimming classes for physio,
constant speech therapy, special toys, everything. And finally it feels like
its really paid off.

Hurrah!Demi
