My situation was different.  My MIL kept buying and I asked her not to
because I didn't want to deal with it after if she didn't survive.  I had a
prenatal dx, so now I have a pile of stuff in my bedroom because it doesn't
seem right just to box it up and put it away.  I didn't even designate a
room for her because I thought it would be to heartbreaking.  I told all of
my family not to buy anything and if she made it I would give them the
credit card and they could go for it, but I did not want anything before
hand.
