[tri-med] Re: typical or sound lazy???

Rachel,

>The PT then suggested that we meet every 4 weeks from
now on , seeing Aleah has begun walking on her own
and has met all the goals for a child who just begins
walking at 13months...... BUT Aleah is going to be 2
on september 7th!.

This is my personal opinion, I know there are several
cutbacks in states for many of the First Steps, Early
Intervention programs, how much the therapists/clinics
are being reembursed per dollar, here in Indiana I
think our PT told me it was like .50cents/$1, so that
is why they had to start overbilling services to break
even or cut back children's services.

Genevieve had PT in First Steps from about 7 months
old to her turning 3 years old last week. Yes she did
make her goals BUT we made new ones, even as late as 4
months ago prior to her turning 3. Physically she is
doing 'awesome', she is a bit weak in upperbody
strength, but shoot she is 24 lbs, 10 oz, 36.25" tall
so understandable to be weak. Our PT did things with
her that helped in other areas, she even had her
trying to make her eyes move upward because it helps
certain neck muscles, I never did confirm this on the
net LOL But boy did all 3 of us look goofy to others
if it wasn't true :P LOL There are many areas of PT
that can be addressed to benefit Aleah, in my opinion,
and seeing all the hard work the therapists did with
her this time, all the homework we did at home I would
question the PT, caseworker and raise some h-e-double
toothpicks.

>Does this sound odd????

YES YES YES

> I have no idea as Alex never received therapy. I
made up our own OT and PT and stimulation programs and
did them all myself.

Michelle, you are an earthly Saint! We were given
homework that we have been doing religiously for 2 and
a half years with instructions/guidance, so for you to
do what was necessary for Alex on your own, my hats
off to you!! She graduated last week from First Steps
and we are giving her a 3 week break, pre-school
starts Aug 12th before she starts going to the clinic
a half hour away, 2 days a week, for therapies, I may
drop DT. Biggest concern is ST, OT and then PT.
