[tri-med] Re: tumbleform chair

H Sharon,
I used a bouncer for a long time with Caroline. That sounds GREAT that
Jason is actually getting strong enough to pull himself out of it!

We didn't have bumbos back then (wish we did but that is a great
suggestion. I used a reclining booster seat (a portable high chair, I think
it was made my First Years). I like the reclining feature because the
regular boosters are very upright. Hers also had padding and a seat
harness. And, since it is really a high chair, it had a tray which was a
great feature to put her toys on. We used it all the time, it was so easy
to take with us when visiting friends or relatives. She actually got too
big and ended up breaking it.

I still don't have a special "chair" for Caroline. We have a wheelchair (I
think we got it when she was 2 or so). I use the booster/toddler rocker
seat that Fisher Price makes. THAT is a wonderful seat for a bigger kid
when used as a rocker. She does pull herself up and throw herself back, but
I think it is actually therapeutic! Oh, we also got a special needs stroller
this year. It is really just a big umbrella stroller, but it is so much
easier to take around than her wheelchair. Great for short trips.

I try not to use special needs equipment until absolutely necessary. Only
because I hate the pain of ordering/insurance approval etc etc. And because
so much of the equipment is so big and bulky and our house is already
overflowing with Caroline's stuff in addition to two other little girls'
toys. I try to make do with regular "stuff" as much as possible.

Take care,
Irene
