[tri-med] Re: tumbleform chair

akaiya received her first special seating system when she was just about a year
- maybe a little younger. it is made by tumbleforms and i can't remember the
name off the top of my head...if it comes to me i will let you know. it
consists of a couple different wedges and bolsters and a tray that you can
velcro together in different ways to be able to position the child in different
ways. we called it the office. we live in illinois and early intervention payed
for it. our pt also made a chair for us out of foam that seated kaiya like a
bumbo chair would - it just offered more support and was more customized to her.

My Jason has T 17 and is 7months. he is still in bouncers but he is
constantly wanting to get into the sitting up position, and i feel they are too

reclined for him. he is always throwing himself up, ( like he is doing an
abdominal crunch) and he can't stay seated up like that on his own, so on the
way
down from the crunch, he went sideways and his upper body was hanging out the
side of the bouncer. i did find one bouncer that is more upright, but he tends
to fall to the side in it, and just looks lopsided.

i asked my PT about getting him some type of special chair for him, and she
said she would let me know when he needs it. it seems to me like he needs it
now. i was wondering at what age your child got their first "special" seat,
was it for just relaxing, was it because of feeding??.......which chair did
they have??.......who recommended it to you??........did the medicaire
waiver/care at home pay for it??......

Thanks,
Sharon
