[tri-med] Re: tubes in ears

Soleah had tubes put in several months after open heart surgery with no
problems at all. And after several ear infections and a bad ABR, did seem to
help (hearing was somewhat better and never had another ear infection.) The
tubes fell out about a year apart--maybe 3 and 4 years later so they stayed in
during those years when she was more prone to ear infections. She also had
many cases of strep throat until she had her tonsils and adnoids out--that
remedied those as well--even though the surgery was really for her breathing
issues. I'm not an advocate of alot of surgeries but sometimes they do have
there place. The only trouble she had with the tonsil/adnoids was that thay
over medicated her--they have her a CNS depressant before anesthesia and she
had a little trouble coming off of anethesia . . . this is common amoungst our
kids.

Hey all,
Charlotte is having tubes put in her ears on the 21st to drain the fluid,
provided she gets cardiac clearance. I'm nervous about the anesthesia, but
hopefully her repeat ABR will show that her hearing is much improved
afterwards!
