Joel & Becky,
Welcome, I think you will find an answer to many of your questions here. I
don't have any experience with omphacele, but my son, Morgan, has partial
t18. He is 5 yrs. old now and attending his 3rd yr. of preschool, next
year all day kindergarten. As far as comfort care vs. more agressive
measures, we chose to treat Morgan like any other child. We got alot of
support from the NICU staff, I don't think they always agreed with us, but
we were the decision makers. Morgan had esophageal atresia with a t.e.
fistula and it was surgically repaired at 10 days of age. He did fine with
the surgury, probably recovered faster than I would have. These kinds of
decisions are very personal, however, and only you can decide what is right
for your family and your baby. I will be praying for you all.
