I had no input into this placement and do have some concerns, but as an

That is one of the scariest things I can imagine happening (one, there are a
few worse!). It's the really nasty down side of the gray zone of trisomy
land.
Additionally, we spend years....decades.....working with, for our child to
allow them the most safe, productive, educational and loving life. And then
this--it's like throwing them to the wolves to some degree.
I was telling Jim about a new 'phone scam' crooks are successfully utilizing
about jury duty. After I'd explained it he said "well, you'd have to be
pretty naieve to fall for that one" and we looked at each other and both
said "Alex would". Jim said "Let's make this a topic for dinner table
conversation".
These days, since turning 18, Alex has done the 'I'm an adult' routine on us
but 99% of the time we can talk about it and get him to come around. But I
KNOW that as time goes by the next year or 2, esp after he graduates high
school, we're going to begin losing more of those battles.
I feel devistated just thinking about what may/could happen. So I really am
trying no to think about it. Maybe that's why I've only just since May begun
working more strongly in that direction??????? {light bulb went off for me,
bet you knew that long before I did}

Oh Nan! I'm sitting here crying.

Yes you do because yes you have had.
I've taken some things you've shared with me over the years and put them to
use.
