Hi Belinda,
Just wanted to comment on our foster daughter. Her little life's beginning
could have been so different......had she been born to different parents or had
she been removed from their care years ago. For nearly 4yrs this little girl
was left lying on her back trying to scoot around the house by using her
right side only. Her left hand is at a 7 month old level and her right foot
rolls
under when she tries to stand.(there was never chance for muscle to develope)
It's really such a shame! I wish I could have gotten my hands on this little
girl years ago. CPS was involved for YEARS......it just takes so darned long
sometimes.
I know what you mean tho..........I have a daughter with Trisomy and I have
dealt over the years with so much pain......mostly from watching her TRY SO
HARD to accomplish things. This is why I decided to foster this little girl.
I
knew I had enough experience to get her the help she needs. It is a different
parenting 'role' though. I never have the guilt of what happened to her,
just complete empathy for her past and sheer joy showing her how wonderful the
world really can be as a child!
This little peanut was found to be legally blind at 4 months of age.......but
not a darn thing was done for her. Now, for nearly a year, she has had
glasses!! YIPEE!! She can see and she is loving taking in so many new sights!!
When
I look into her eyes, it's like watching a newborn seeing things for the
first time!
It really is awesome having her in our lives. People tell me how wonderful
it is that we are taking care of her, but really......WE HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED
by this child. I am so grateful to call her my daughter!

Mom to Brianna, t9p, Brandon and soon Marissa!
