HA! HA! It sounds like he has just hit a milestone of independence and 
control.  Typically children start around 2 years old (hence, terrible twos)  
when 
kids are delayed they still go through these stages just not on the typical 
schedule.  Emily did this stuff around age 3,4,5.  Now that she is 7 she is 
developmentally like a 3 year old and some things have gotten better.
