Hi Karla,

My sons kidney reflux was found because he was born three months premature and 
they check all prems for kidney reflux. When he was about 9 months old he had a 
dye put into his bladder via a catheter in his willy and they took a series of 
x rays and saw that when the dye started to flow back out of the catheter some 
went up into the kidneys (refluxing). As Gina mentioned kidney refluxing is 
quite common in t8 kids. My son has been on antibiotic trimethoprim for 3 years 
now (he is 4 in July) to try and prevent urinary tract infections as these can 
reflux from the bladder back up into his kidneys and cause scaring. From what I 
have been told by his urologist it is common for kidney relfux to correct it 
self as the child grows as the kidneys mature. My son had his routine ultra 
sound today and his kidneys are looking good and are a good size for his age. 
so good news on that front.
