LOL that sounds soooo like Alex. Actually getting him to feed himself helped
him to deal with the gagging and retching. I am a mean mum too :-)
Alex would start up with the gagging etc and I would tell him to stop
it..... Once he started feeding himself I would tell him it was his fault if
he started because he was doing it too fast..... Pretty soon he learnt not
to gag. I dont know if it was just because he was older or if he finally
started controlling it.
I tell you what though - he soon learnt to tolerate some pretty fast bolus'
(or is that boli LOL) and as for meds they go in so fast its not funny. But
because he is in control he can't complain!!
As for giving meds - Alex isn't on any regular meds either but I give him
10cc's of water to "flush" the button after a meal (even if its oral) - but
let him do it as if its a med........ Gives him the practice and gets the
button flushed :-))
