As you know, I take Morgan to therapies at the hospital 4 times a week
right now. There is just so much more they can do there that the
therapists in your home can't do. The equipment they can use because it
doesn't have to fit in somebody's car is wonderful. The space is bigger,
there is just a different kind of interaction going on there than at home.
Morgan had home based therapy in the birth to 3 yrs. program, they helped
us get a good start, but it was nothing compared to what he has gotten at
the hospital. The therapy he gets at school now is nothing compared to the
hospital, in fact, Morgan wouldn't be doing half the things he does now if
he didn't get the extras at the hospital. At least, that is my opinion. I
think next school year we are going to cut out 1 day of p.t. (he currently
gets 2) and I'm going to try to combine o.t. and speech on the same day so
we will only be going twice a week. The 1 day of p.t. is experimental
because if he starts to lose anything we are going back to twice a week.
The p.t. has already agreed to that. She isn't worried, she said.

As p.t. goes Morgan is now spending 15 -20 mins. a session working on
assisted walking. He will continuely weight bear on one leg at a time for
the whole session and he initiates about 90% of
of the steps with his left leg. Righty leg is a little lazier and he is
not initiating as many steps with that leg. He frequently needs to have
righty in a knee immobilizer simply so he can't decide to just sit down.
We have seen real progress there, though.
