{You may want to ask
him about doing a swallow study first to make sure that there is no
submucosal cleft. (or an MRI) and you might want to ask for a sleep study to
see just how bad the apneas are.}
Thanks Karen. I will be asking for a sleep study. Nick had a swallow study
done several years ago, but it wouldn't hurt to have another one done. I will
proceed with caution concerning the surgery. I wasn't pleased when he
suggested surgery so quickly. The doctor has ordered a CT scan for the sinuses
also and would do sinus surgery in combination with the others. Nicholas
already had sinus surgery and that was the worst recovery of all his surgeries
(and he has had around 14). He was just miserable after that because he
couldn't breathe and eat (he didn't have his g-tube then). We do have the
advantage of having the g-tube now, but I still want the sleep study done
before any talk of surgery.
