Is Luke getting any early intervention at home? If so, some of these
therapies could take place in the locations you refer to (the zoo, beach...).
The
whole theory behind EI is that it occurs in the natural environment. I am an OT
in
Early Intervention and the mom of a T13 angel. I believe strongly in parents
learning from the therapists and practicing what you learn at home. That is
the EI model, and at 2 years old, research supports that. If he is receiving
therapies in a hospital, they are based from a medical model. I'm not saying
that
is bad, I have worked that way, too, but it is best with home carryover. Just
some thoughts. As a therapist, I could not recommend officially without
seeing Luke first. You're a good mom. Go with your gut.
