Subject: [tri-med] strange question!

When I pulled the skin back it was really in there! Its kind of like it
never popped out but its still back there but not visible. So, I'm just
wondering if anyone else with a boy has had this problem? And if so is it
correctable?

Hi Nancy :o)
NOT a strange question at all!!! What you're describing is what Devon
had/has...it's called a retracted penis and we were told it's actually quite
common in the general population...although I had never known anyone with a
child with a retracted penis. If you're not careful I'll have to share with
you what has become known as "The Free Petey" story :o) Some of our oldies
here might remember it?? Devon's "not so private parts anymore" looked
alittle like a little bike tire valve stem....very tiny when he was a
baby...but that's because it was all foreskin and petey was buried deep down
inside...he does not have a micro penis though...although I imagine he's
smaller than other 7 year olds?? Our Ped did try to circumcise Devon at our
request (because we thought it might help with what we feared would be
cleanliness issues...as well as what my husband and I saw as one more step
towards a little normality as far as a visual thing goes...if that makes any
sense?"). Devon DID have surgery...but it was to free the trapped penis that
resulted from the failed circumcision...a suture slipped on the bell the
night of his circumcision and he hemoraged into the empty cavity (petey was
waaaaaaaayy down in there!)...we had to let what was left of the foreskin
adhere to the head of his penis....creating a "trapped penis". Penoplasty
was done to free petey and his testicle was brought down at the same time as
well as a hernia repair. It was not a pleasant recovery. As far as I
know...there's not anything to be done about the retracted penis...except
time. While Devon is still a little retracted...he's MUCH less retracted
than before...and petey even pokes out a little bit :o) Too graphic??? :o)
Some of the problem is that little fat pad they have in there pubic
area...it doesn't help matter with the retraction. My best advice would be
to do your best with keeping it as clean in there as you can the best way
you can and if you notice an odor or drainage or redness....don't hesitate
to take him to the doctor.
Good news about you liking Daylin's new mic-key and about him getting chubby
:O) I'm sorry to hear your husband had to ship out though...my prayers are
with you all for his safe return :o)
