When I was working as a medical receptionist, it was drilled into me
that I was not allowed to tell anyone results, or make comments,
unless told to explicitly by the doctor. I once said to a patient who
was ringing in for an appointment, and sounded worried "oh don't
worry, it's probably just a cold or something like that", trying to
be reassuring, I was overheard by a doctor and boy did I get into trouble.
Actually the message to you should have been, "please ring this
surgery back to make a new appointment for doctor to speak to you".
or something like that, so as not to alarm. As Nanci said in her
email, fibrolipomas are usually benign.
