{What are other ways
to help with reflux? Has Reglan been effective in your experience? Is
a fundo best? These are issues we're considering before we go the
direction of a stomach g-tube.}
We tried anti-reflux meds for a while. It only seemed to help a little.
Nicholas would still sit up at night and cough and gag. Nicholas did have the
malrotated bowel, so they immediately did surgery for that and the fundo too.
He then decided he wasn't going to eat after the surgery, so we ended up
getting him a g-tube. He still eats by mouth (well, right now he's getting
over surgery, so it's slow eating). We love the tube for meds and for feeds
when he doesn't feel well. I used to get so frustrated when he wouldn't eat
(if he was sick). Now I have no worries because I can feed him through the
tube. He got his fundo and tube at age 6.
