[tri-med] Re: rash

OK...I missed the original post here....but last year Devon had the wicked
rash from hell that lasted from January (when he got the flu) thru to April
when finally I brought a shopping bag FULL of both over the counter creams
and powders AND prescription creams to the pediatrician's office with Devon
so Dr Bell could see his poor bleeding/raw butt :o( NOTHING we tried made
it go away including yogurt, Nystantin, Balmex, Sween cream, Bag Balm, Butt
Paste, Caldasene powder....you name it we tried it!!!! The doctor just
cringed when he looked at it...I think he thought I had been exagerating
how bad it was. I told him he just had to tell us something that would make
it better and fast....we just couldn't stand it anymore...poor boy just
screamed when he tinkled and had a BM and when we had to clean him...we
changed him VERY often in an effort to keep him dry as possible. The doctor
prescribed Clotrimazole and Betamethazone Dipropionate Cream. It's a generic
for a very strong cortizone cream from what I'm told. Interestingly enough
it says on the box it comes in not to use on genital/diaper area...and the
doctor said not to use it any longer than necessary because it will thin the
skin. I couldn't wait to get home and put it on his poor raw/bloody
butt...and ya wanna now what??? Within like 4 hours (2 changes) later...the
raw and peeling skin in his groin and the bloody butt crack and surrounding
area were like a pink shadow of their former raw and bloody selves!!! I felt
like building a shrine to this cream!!!! We were sooooooooo grateful :o)
Devon currently has one of these rashes again and I'm almost out of the
miracle cream from heaven :o( Our doctors office is closed until after
Hurricaine Frances passes...will reopen Tuesday....so I'm using it very
sparingly until I can get somemore.
