Hi all,
My Caroline, through all her trials and tribulations, has always continued to
grow fine length wise. She grew 6 inches in 6 months while she BIG TIME
struggled to gain weight. Well, she has been on a feeding pump for 5 months
and has gained a fairly good amount of weight. We have had some recent issues
and have backed her feeds down for the last month, but she is still getting WAY
closer to her minimum than she did in her early months.
It now seems that in the last 3 months, she has barely grown at all! Maybe
an inch if we are lucky. Is that normal for any other triers? I was hopeful
that since her growth continued so steadily during her first 6 months, when she
struggled to get almost any calories, that when we got her closer to her
minimum (and we were OVER her minimum for a couple months before the recent
problems started), that she would continue to grow steadily. I have heard that
some children with Caroline's disorder (and there are only a few) need growth
hormone therapy. I have heard that mentioned on this list too. Is the lack of
growth apparent initially? Or does it happen like Caroline and they just stop
growing??? If so, when do you start this therapy?
Thanks in advance...you all are really the experts!!!
Irene
