Anthony had his hiatal hernia fixed. Before the Fundo, his stomach was
going into his lung cavity and he had more of a meow than a cry sound.
But we had NEVER been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and only found this
out after dealing with reflux issues for many months and after being
referred to a surgeon ... he explained it to me - and made sure I knew
this was optional surgery.
The fundo pulled his stomach into place and allowed his esophagus to
stay long and do its job properly and we came off all reflux meds too.
Here is a short blurb about hiatal hernias:

Anthony cried loudly like a normal cry for the first time a few days
after surgery (it was a BEAUtiful sound). After he heard his voice, I
think he cried just to hear it!!! He was nine months old and crying like
a baby FINALLY!!!
After surgery, his O2 desaturations were lessened as well, probably
because he was able to get his lungs full of air. But when he had
complications in his health, his desats continued ...
Hope this helps in your quest for info ...

Subject: [tri-med] question re fundoplication
Hello everybody, I am on a quest for information for Mollie. Perhaps
someremember she is the little foster trisomy 13 baby being so lovingly
caredfor by Lynne. She is having trouble keeping her feedings down and
Lynne asked if I would inquire as to the symptoms some of the other
babies
presented with that were ultimately cured by a fundoplication operation.
Thanks for sharing, and I will forward responses to her. Barb Mom to
