had a good friend that would say to my kids when they did the old drop, flop 
and cry (whether mad or hurt), "Come over here and I will pick you up." By the 
time the kid made it to his comforting lap, whatever was the big deal was 
pretty much over. If there was blood, he would say, "Go to your mom, she will 
pick you up". LOL This was a good man. He gave our little Sheltie  dog mouth to 
mouth and CPR when she collapsed. Turned out she had a heart attack and he 
saved her life. She lived another two years.
