[tri-med] Re: problems with spam

Fawna,

Have you checked with your host to see if they have a spam manager tool at
the server level? Many hosts do, and it is up to you to turn it on for your
mail. I did that for mine and was able to reduce my spam significantly,
while other legit mail has not been lost.

Just thinking aloud...

Katy,

Yes, but it's not the "normal" variety, and I know how
I'm getting it. But unfortunately there's also nothing
I can do about it short of totally shutting down my
livingwithtrisomy.org homepage launch website. Some
ingenious spam contact provider has targeted my site's
submission page. So what I'm getting now, and have been
for about the last six months, is dozens of spam e-mails
per day submitting website links to me, mostly for on-line
pharmacy & porn sites. But since they show up under my
site's info@ e-mail addy, I can't block them without
blocking the legitimate submissions as well. Plus I have
to at least open up the e-mail to see if it is spam.

I'm getting pretty good though at recognizing the non
legitimate titles (like Pharmacy, Grom, baran, & Pendosi
pidori my most prolific submissions). Oh and alternately for
about a month I was also inundated with non deliverable
mail notices, because they were also using my server's name
to create alias e-mail addy's to put on other spam they were
sending out. But since I'm the only REAL user on the server
all the notices were coming back to me. Thank goodness at
least THAT's stopped now. But take note, that return e-mail
addy server on the spam you're receiving is probably a pirated
server alias.
