Chris,
I hope she will be better soon too. She is not too terribly sick
acting, just sick sounding.
You can check for aspiration with a swallow study--if we had Tierney
swallow barium and watched it go down--it should stay in the esophagus,
but if she is aspirating, some would end up in the trachea or bronchi.
It takes 24-48 hours to see aspiration pneumonia on a chest
radiograph--takes a bit for the mucous and inflammatory cells to
accumulate and make a shadow on the radiograph.
We do have a nebulizer--with just saline though. No bronchodilators, I
should have asked for that. Wasn't thinking straight.
I was really hoping to hear some of the other Moms chime in and say
they had been through this with their little ones. I am more worried
now since I asked.
But she really does not seem that bad. She was terribly excited to get
bananas twice today.
